Meetings

Meetings are convened two or three times a year. They are usually held in London but, if appropriate, they may be held elsewhere and it has been customary to arrange a summer visit to an outdoor site, museum or building of historical interest.

The Autumn meeting with the AGM was held at the RCVS, Belgravia House, Horseferry Road, London on November 30th 2011.

A Meeting will be held on Wednesday July 4th 2012 at Queen's College, Cambridge. Our host will be the Rev Dr. Jonathan Holmes, and the programme will include an exhibition in the Old Library set up for us by the Librarian.

A Meeting to celebrate the Society's 50th anniversary will be held at the Wellcome Trust in London on October 31st and November 1st 2012. It was on October 31st 1962 that the inaugural Meeting of the Society was held in the Wellcome Library. We thank Wellcome for its support over these years.

Celebrating The Rocky Road from Odiham, the RVCGA invites VHS members to its Meeting on June16th/17th at the George Hotel, Odiham, which involves a plaque commemorating the role of the Odiham Agricultural Society in the founding of the RVC. Contact: Noakesdavid@aol.com

The 40th International Congress of the World Association for the History of Veterinary Medicine is being held in Utrecht, 22nd to 25th August 2012.

An excellent meeting was held on Wednesday 1st June 2011 in the Library of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire CV8 2LZ.

We visited Copenhagen for a two-day, joint programme with the Danish Veterinary History Society on Wednesday/Thursday 23/24 April 2008.
